Atlanta Hawks 2026-27 Depth Chart Following Free Agency

With NBA free agency largely wrapped up, it’s a great time to take a look at each NBA team’s depth chart as we head closer to the NBA season. Let’s take a look at the Atlanta Hawks’ updated depth chart following free agency, along with some analysis of the team’s incoming and outgoing players as they shape up for the 2026–27 season.

The Atlanta Hawks had a busy summer, making plenty of moves to surround their young core led by Jalen Johnson, Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Dyson Daniels. While they weren’t a part of any blockbuster deals over the offseason, they made several acquisitions and trades that have reinforced their roster heading into the new season.

The biggest acquisition of the summer for Atlanta was Lu Dort, who they acquired in a three-team trade. Dort was dealt to the Hawks, while the Thunder received three second-round picks, the Mavericks acquired former 2024 No. 1 overall pick Zaccharie Risacher and Atlanta also received guard Ryan Nembhard. Risacher was the Hawks’ biggest departure of the offseason, and it was a surprising move to see the former 2024 No. 1 overall pick leave after just two seasons with the team.

Dort was a crucial piece of the Thunder’s 2024-25 championship team and their rise back to prominence in the 2020s. Last year, Dort averaged 8.3 points while shooting 38.5% from the field and 34.4% from three-point range, a slight dip from his career averages of 11.6 points, 40.5% from the field and 35.8% from three. The Hawks also received guard Ryan Nembhard in the trade, who averaged 6.6 points while shooting 41.5% from the field and 35.6% from three-point range during his rookie season.

The additions of Dort and Nembhard weren’t all, as the Hawks also acquired guards Devin Carter and Aaron Wiggins through trades and drafted guard Kingston Flemings with the eighth overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. Flemings had an electric freshman season at Houston, where he averaged 16.1 points, 4.1 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game while shooting 47.6% from the field and 38.7% from three-point range.

The Hawks made huge moves over the summer to nearly overhaul their backcourt group, which is now infused with young talent and depth across the board. They also re-signed point guard CJ McCollum to a one-year deal. McCollum will provide a strong veteran presence to a young group of guards while also bringing plenty of his proven scoring ability. He averaged 18.7 points last season while shooting 45.5% from the field and 37.5% from three.

After losing to the reigning champion New York Knicks in the first round of the playoffs in six games, the Hawks were clearly one of the more aggressive Eastern Conference teams over the summer and should be just as competitive next season. It will be key to see how their new infusion of talent and options within their backcourt group comes together and whether it can give Atlanta the push it needs to become one of the best teams in the East this upcoming season.
