Anthony Davis and the Lakers are off to a good start. They find themselves at the top of the Western Conference and look like a contending team. If they continue to play at a high level, as well as remain healthy, the Lakers may be the beat to beat.
Davis has played well this season, as he currently averages 28.5 points, 11.5 rebounds and 2.7 assists. He has played in every game this season up to this point.
The Lakers look like a promising team, and their star forward Davis is a significant part of their success. If things go well, he could remain with the Lakers for years to come. However, he may not rule out other options.
Recently, Davis met with the boys and girls basketball team from his alma mater Perspectives Charter School. He held a Q&A session with the students and was asked about joining the Bulls. The student asked if he had to chance to come home, would he do it. Davis responded that it is a possibility.
“Honestly, it’s nothing like playing at home,” Davis responded, after the room filled with laughter. “I don’t know..I mean, I am a free agent next year, but we’ll see. It’s a possibility.”
Davis later clarified his statements and said he wants to focus on winning a championship with the Lakers and then seeing how free agency goes.
“I said I’d consider anything,” Davis said. “I said I’m focused on winning a championship with the Lakers and, of course, everyone knows I’ll be a free agent next year, and we’ll see where it goes.”
Davis is having a good season and has a legitimate chance at winning a championship. He realizes that anything can happen in the free agency and answered the question accordingly. The season is still relatively young, and the offseason is a while away. There is plenty of time for Davis to make his decision. Until then, he has unfinished business with the Lakers.
