Sarr has played professionally in Europe and Australia during his young professional career. Now he is in the 2024 NBA Draft.
He started playing for Real Madrid in 2019, playing for their youth cadet team. Following that he moved to America, playing two seasons in the Overtime Elite League. After two seasons, he moved on to play in Australia. He averaged 9.7 points and 4.4 rebounds per game. He dealt with a hip strain during the season, but finished the season.
Following the season, Sarr decided to follow his brother, Olivier, to the NBA by declaring for the draft. He is currently projected to be a top-five pick.
Sarr has a big body to be a starting five in the NBA. He stands nearly 7-feet tall and weighs in at 224 pounds. While he may need to add a little bit of muscle to handle the physical play in the NBA, it looks like he can fill out his frame. With his height and weight comes good length, as he has a wingspan of over 7-feet and four inches.
His body control and athleticism for his size are both good. Sarr moves like a smaller player, which can help him be a mismatch for traditional big men. He shows solid speed, quickness, agility and leaping ability. This all helps him guard multiple positions and be a versatile player offensively as well. He can be used on the perimeter or in the paint.
He has good defensive upside in a few ways. As mentioned, he can guard multiple positions. On the perimeter, his length helps him contest shots and bother smaller players. When he is on the inside, his athleticism can help. He has shown the the ability to protect the rim, from the frontside or the backside. Sarr is able to switch when needed and take care of his responsibilities.
Shooting will need to be improved for him to be a good offensive NBA player. Sarr shot below 30 percent from 3-point range and will need to improve to space the floor. He also has not shot well from the free-throw line during his career. Teams may leave him off the floor for key minutes if he doesn’t improve his shooting.
In order to be a force on the interior, Sarr will need to hit the weight room. He can be pushed around by bigger players on the inside. Sarr could be taken advantage of on the glass and on defense if he can match the physicality of other players in the league. Adding muscle can also help him on the offensive end.
Sarr will need to improve his ability to finish around the basket with both hands. He can be slowed in the halfcourt and needs to add more post moves to his game as well. Shooting 52 percent from the floor last season can be improved with more work on his interior scoring.
