The 2025 NBA Draft has had some twists and turns. Each team will be given a grade for their picks in the draft. Here are the 2025 NBA Draft Grades.
Atlanta Hawks:
Draft Picks: F Asa Newell,
His outside shooting can improve, but Newell can score in the post.
Boston Celtics: C
Draft Picks: F Hugo Gonzalez, C Amari Williams, G Max Shulga
Gonzalez is a solid athlete, but needs to work on his scoring ability. Williams is a good playmaker and passer for a center, but also plays good defense. Shulga can run an offense and shoot, but will need to prove he can make it as an NBA defender.
Brooklyn Nets: B
Draft Picks: G Egor Denim, G Nolan Traore, G Drake Powell, G Ben Saraf, F Danny Wolf
Denim has good playmaking, especially for his size and can provide a matchup problem for opposing defenses. Traore isn’t the biggest player, but he sees the floor well and makes smart passes. Powell can shoot and play perimeter defense. Saraf is a good passer, but needs to improve his shot. Wolf is a skilled big man who can pose matchup problems for a defense.
Charlotte Hornets: B
Draft Picks: G Kon Knueppel, F Liam McNeeley, G Sion James, C Ryan Kalkbrenner
Knueppel will haelp stretch the floor with his shooting, but could struggle on the defensive end of the floor. McNeeley has good shooting potential and plays hard. James provides a good perimeter defender. Kalkbrenner is a good post defender and has a good post-up game.
Chicago Bulls: C
Draft Picks: F Noa Essengue, F Lachlan Olbrich
Essengue has a lot of areas to refine in his game, but has good body control for his size. Olbrich has played college at UC Riverside and professionally in Australia, providing an ok inside scorer.
Cleveland Cavaliers: B
Draft Picks: G Tyrese Proctor, G Saliou Niang
Proctor can shoot, but also is able to play on ball to make plays for his teammates. Niang doesn’t score the ball much, but has unique size for his skills.
Detroit Pistons: B
Draft Picks: G Chaz Lanier
Lanier is a good scorer who can shoot it from deep.
Indianapolis Pacers: D
Draft Picks: G Taelon Peter,
Peter can shoot well from deep, but may struggle to find playing time in the NBA.
Miami Heat: A
Draft Pick: G Kasparas Jakucionis,
Jakucionis struggled down the stretch for Illinois, but was playing injured. His passing and playmaking are unique.
Milwaukee Bucks: B
Draft Picks: C Bogoljub Markovic,
Markovic is a skilled big man who can shoot from deep, but will need time to adjust to the NBA game.
New York Knicks: D
Draft Picks: F Mohamed Diawara,
Diawara only scored 6.1 points per game last season and needs more time to develop.
Orlando Magic: A
Draft Picks: G Jase Richardson, F Noah Penda,
Richardson slid in the draft and isn’t the biggest, but can create his own shot and has a high basketball IQ. Penda was solid value and can complement Richardson.
Philadelphia 76ers: B
Draft Picks: G VJ Edgecombe, C Johni Broome
Edgecombe has great athleticism and can be a two-way impact player at the next level. Broome was a great scorer at the college level and has plenty of experience in the post.
Toronto Raptors: C
Draft Picks: F Collin Murray-Boyles, G Alijah Martin
Murray-Boyles will have to develop an outside shot to be a huge offensive impact in the NBA. Martin has proven to be an off-ball scorer who can also defend well.
Washington Wizards: A
Draft Picks: G Tre Johnson, F Jamir Watkins
Johnson is the best scorer in the draft class and can help the Wizards rebuild. Watkins is a good perimeter defender who can continue to work on his outside shot.
Dallas Mavericks: A
Draft Picks: F Cooper Flagg,
Flagg has a really high floor and is a great selection as the no. 1 pick as a player who will have a big defensive impact.
Denver Nuggets:
Draft Picks:
Golden State Warriors: B
Draft Picks: F Alex Toohey, G Will Richard
Toohey is a versatile forward who can play on both ends of the floor. Richard is a good floor-spacer as an outside shooter.
Houston Rockets:
Draft Picks:
Los Angeles Clippers: C
Draft Picks: C Yanic Konan Niederhauser, F Kobe Sanders
Niedershauser is a good rim protector who averaged 2.3 blocks per game last season at Penn State. Sanders can play on the ball, but needs to improve his shot.
Los Angeles Lakers: A
Draft Picks: F Adou Thierro,
Thierro is a bigger wing who has guard-like skills at his disposal.
Memphis Grizzlies: C-
Draft Picks: G Cedric Coward, G Javon Small, G Jahmai Mashack
The Grizzlies traded up and took Coward a bit too soon. He can shoot, but he played just six games this past season at Washington State, and before that, he played at Eastern Washington. Small is athletic, can defend and can create for his teammates. Mashack is a tough player who will play hard to try and earn a spot.
Minnesota Timberwolves: C-
Draft Picks: C Joan Beringer, C Rocco Zikarsky
Beringer runs the floor well and can help protect the rim too. Zikarsky is a good interior scorer who has great size, but may have trouble staying in front of opponents on defense.
New Orleans Pelicans: B+
Draft Picks: G Jeremiah Fears, C Derik Queen, G Micah Peavy
Fears is gifted at getting to the basket and if he improves his 3-point shot, can become a star. Queen is a bit underized, but can score on the interior well. Peavy is good on the defensive end and could be a 3-and-D player.
Oklahoma City Thunder: B
Draft Picks: C Thomas Sorber, F Brooks Barnhizer
Sorber can pass from the high-post, but most importantly, he rebounds and protects the rim well. Barnhizer needs to refind his shooting form, but is a versatile defender.
Phoenix Suns: B
Draft Picks: C Khaman Maluach, F Rasheer Fleming, G Koby Brea
Maluach is a good post defender, but the Suns are also making a trade for Mark Williams, which makes the trade a bit curious. The Suns got good value in Fleming who has good two-way potential. Brea is a great outside shooter, but was streaky at times this past season.
Portland Trail Blazers: D
Draft Picks: C Hansen Yang,
The Trail Blazers get some credit for trading down, but Yang was selected too early. He will provide shot blocking and inside finishing.
Sacramento Kings: B
Draft Picks: F Nique Clifford, C Maxime Raynaud
Clifford is an older prospect, but can score in a variety of ways. Raynaud is a double-double machine and can even shoot from outside decently well.
San Antonio Spurs: A
Draft Picks: G Dylan Harper, F Carter Bryant, G Kam Jones
Harper is a three-level scorer who can provide another offensive threat to pair with Victor Wembenyama. Bryant has the chance to be a good 3-and-D player in the NBA, but didn’t produce much in his one season at Arizona. Jones can play on and off ball, but either way knows how to get the ball into the basket.
Utah Jazz: A
Draft Picks: F Ace Bailey, G Walter Clayton, F Will Riley, G John Tonje
Bailey drew headlines for not completing a lot of workouts, but he has unique scoring ability for a wing. Clayton was clutch in March Madness for Florida and can shoot well from deep. Riley is a good athlete on the wing who can create an impact on both ends of the floor. Tonje knows how to drive to the basket and draw fouls well.
