Notable Changes in NBA 2K22 Player Ratings

Publish Date: February 24, 2022

Many notable players expected to make an impact this season have struggled, reflected in their NBA 2K22 player ratings.

A number of All-Star caliber players were moved to new teams to be the final piece in a championship run. The additions of Russell Westbrook (Los Angeles Lakers), Julius Randle (New York Knicks) and Kristaps Porzingis (Washington Wizards) have been underwhelming. The following is a recap of the on-court production of each player and updated NBA 2K22 player ratings.

Russell Westbrook

Stats: 18.3 PPG, 10.2 RPG, 7.5 APG

Arriving from the Washington Wizards, Westbrook was to be the final piece to support LeBron James and Anthony Davis in the Lakers’ championship run. This was reflected in-game as Westbrook began the season with an overall rating of 86. Despite leading the team in assists per game, Westbrook is averaging a career low in points per game, and 3-point and free throw shooting percentage  (29.9 percent and 66.8 percent respectively).  His stat-line over the last 4 games (10.3 points per game, 28 field goal percentage, 15 percent 3-point shooting) highlight a season of struggles capped by his benching during clutch situations. The most recent update saw his rating dip to a 79, the lowest rating he received since his rookie season.

Julius Randle

Stats: 19.8 PPG, 10.2 RPG, 5.2 APG

Last season Randle led the Knicks to the postseason for the first time since the 2012-2013 season, but is struggling to recapture his success. Despite leading the team in a number of categories , his numbers show a major drop-off in production from his averages last season (24.1 points per game, 10.2 rebounds per game, 6.0 assists per game). Randle’s struggles have the Knicks at 12th place in the Eastern Conference, and led to a current rating of 83. After beginning the season with a 87 overall rating, Randle hopes to find his production from last season (24.1 ppg, 10.2 rpg, 6.0 apg) to lead his team back to playoffs for the second straight year.

Kristaps Porzingis

Stats: 19.2 PPG, 7.7 RPG, 2.0 APG

Though producing numbers above his career season averages, Porzingis found himself moved at the NBA Trade Deadline from the Dallas Mavericks to the Washington Wizards. Sitting at 8th in the Eastern Conference (27-31 overall record), Porzingis’ regular season production instantly provides a boost to a team led by former Los Angeles Laker Kyle Kuzma (16.3 ppg, 8.8 rpg, 3.1 apg) carrying the team in the absence of injured-star Bradley Beal. Seen as the scapegoat for the recent postseason failures of the Mavericks, Porzingis’ 85 overall rating has held steady after dropping from an 86 overall and marks his status as the best player available to use on the Wizards with the injury of Beal (87 overall) and ahead of Kuzma (82 overall).

With the second half of the NBA 2K22 season set to tip off Thursday night, the on-court performance of each of these players will continue to impact their in-game ratings.
