With Magic Gaming finally taking the court in a loss (56-82) to Raptors Uprising GC, Season 5 of the NBA 2K League officially began for all teams. TGH provides an overview of the NBA 2K League and what to expect this coming season.
Founded in February 2017, the NBA 2K League is an esports league centered around the NBA 2K series; sponsored by the NBA and Take-Two Interactive. The inaugural season of the NBA 2K League tipped off in May of 2018, with Knicks Gaming winning the initial championship. Originally having only 17 NBA teams represented in the league, the NBA 2K League now includes 24 total teams.

With a league of now 24 teams, the expansion of the NBA 2K league has brought in a wide range of talented players. To qualify for the league, prospective players competed in a Pro-AM tournament and combine over the course of a month. The top talent was then invited to the NBA 2K League draft; held virtually this season and livestreamed on the NBA 2K Twitch/YouTube channels. Over the course of the next 6 months 52 players will have the opportunity to represent NBA teams as the top talent within the NBA 2K community.
Group play for Season 5 of the NBA 2K League begins with THE TIPOFF, where each team will compete in tournament play over the next 3 weeks. Fans can watch gameplay on Youtube Gaming and Twitch, with action taking place on Tuesday-Friday evenings nightly.
