With NBA All Star Weekend 2022 beginning this week, a main attraction has been the Celebrity All-Star game. In recent years celebrities from actors to artists to athletes have graced the game. Though much excitement has been around the live-event, the 2K version of the NBA All-Star Weekend has become stale for many fans of the series. This year the 2K version sees the addition of celebrities Ronnie 2K, Quavo and The Game in the NBA 2K22 MyTeam game mode.
Ronnie 2K
Perhaps the most well known addition to the game within the NBA 2K community, Ronnie “Ronnie 2K” Singh gained stardom at the top of the NBA 2K leaderboard and forums that led to his rise on social media. Currently in the role as digital marketing director at 2K, Ronnie 2K is the “ratings guru” for NBA 2K both by fans of the game and NBA Players. Ronnie comes in at an 88 overall rating and playable at the PF/SF position in the game. The long-time NBA 2K personality’s addition to the game is sure to have the community stirring over the next few weeks.
Quavo
Rapper “Quavo”, known as a member of the hip-hop group Migos, has starred in the recent NBA Celebrity All Star Games and now finds himself in MyTeam mode. Quavo has long supported his hometown Atlanta Hawks and shown off his skill as a ball-handler/scorer during celebrity games. With a rating of 89 overall, and PG/SG position setting for the game, Quavo’s skills flashed during games are now live in NBA 2K. Fans of NBA 2K and Quavo’s music are familiar with his artistic talents from his performance during the 2020 NBA All-Star Game Halftime Show, and will now see his skill for the first time in game.
The Game
A second rapper making his debut to NBA 2K’s MyTeam Mode is the hip-hop artist “The Game”. With hits as an individual artist and as part of hip-hop group G-Unit, The Game enters with a 89 overall rating. Playable as a SG/SF, The Game has been known to long enjoy playing in “The Park” mode of NBA 2K and yet another addition fans of the 2K series will find exciting to use in the game.
MyTeam Mode
In order to use each of the new additions, certain challenges must be completed in the MyTeam Mode of NBA 2K22. MyTeam mode allows players to create a fantasy roster of current players and NBA Legends by earning player cards. Players begin by selecting one card and then adding to their card pack by completing Challenges” and “The Reward House”, “Pack Market”, “Auction House”, “Exchange”, and “Rewards”. The featured challenge for this year is “Triple Threat”, where players must be the first to score 21 points.
Currently, the Celebrity Cards for each of the added MyTeam players can only be used in single-player games, but this could mark the beginning of future additions to the game mode.
