MultiVersus launches season 1 on Aug. 15, including the announcement of Black Adam from DC and Stripe from Gremlins coming to MultiVersus.
After announcing that season 1 will be delayed, season 1 saw its release date change from Aug. 8 to Aug 15. The delay was brief and with the extension of the battle pass and open beta, many players were preparing for the launch of season 1.
Morty Smith from Rick and Morty will be the first new playable character in season 1. He will become a playable character on Aug. 23
Rick Sanchez, also from Rick and Morty will also see a playable character released in season 1. However, there is yet a confirmation of his release date as of the release of season 1.
Black Adam is a popular villain and anti-hero from the DC comics, the rival of Shazam who he shares much of the same powers with. Shazam is also receiving a live-action film starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson that will be released on Oct. 21, 2022. Black Adam is likely to tie in with the release of the film, but many fans love the character and will be happy to see his inclusion.
Stripe is from the 1984 classic Warmer Bros. horror comedy film about creatures called Mogwais and Gremlins. Stripe is the antagonist of the films and became an icon to fans alongside the Mogwai Gizmo. The film was a major box office success and was one of the leading reasons why the PG-13 rating came to be.
The characters will make up the third and fourth characters to release in season 1. There is no confirmation on how many characters in total will release.
However, fans can get excited for both Black Adam and Stripe. The two do not have a release date as of the release of season 1, but will likely come well after Rick. Outside of key art, there is no gameplay or confirmation of their character classes.
Alongside the characters, season 1 brings in a new season pass that includes 50 tiers. The pass will cost players a total of 950 Gleamium, which costs roughly 10 dollars.
Of course, players can always stick with the free battle pass but won’t receive the same kind of awards if they were to choose to go premium.
Other features to come with season 1 include an Arcade Mode and Ranked Mode. Ranked Mode will be the place for more competitive play and rise through the ranks. An MMR and ranking system was a part of the open beta, but this will be adding a more in-depth system.
The free characters will also be receiving a new rotation, swapping out the previous with Arya, Batman, LeBron, and Steven.
Many characters in the roster will also be receiving updates, such as buffs and nerfs to balance the game out.
The game saw its official release on Aug. 15, but the optional founder’s edition is still available for purchase. They will eventually disappear sometime during season 1 but there is no confirmation on the date. In the meantime, they are available for $39.99, $59.99, and 99.99. Content includes character tokens, Gleamium, and other cosmetic items.
