Orlando City vs FC Cincinnati
Cincinnati started the game with a goal from Darren Mattocks in the 24th minute. He waited in the box for his teammates to press after a long ball. He tried to find a play to make, instead, he made a powerful shot on goal into the top left corner.
Orlando not far behind with a goal from Tesho Akindele 13 minutes later. Akindele received a pass, made a quick half trap to get top of the box. He took a shot towards the top right corner that passed the keeper with no problems to tie the game up.
After half Orlando got the opportunity for a PK. Cincinnati keeper Spencer Richey blocked the PK, but Nani scored it on the rebound.
Nine minutes later Nani scored again on a turnover. With teammate Ruan making a run down the side and around into the box, he was able to lay it off to Nani to bury the ball in.
Akindele got another goal in the 64th minute from a corner. With a rebounded ball Akindele volleyed the ball in.
To finish the scoring streak Dom Dwyer headed a ball in from a corner kick to square away a 5-1 game against Cincinnati.
NY Red Bulls vs Atlanta United FC
It was an interesting game for home team NY Red Bulls on MLS Sunday.
Two minutes in, Marc Rzatkowksi took a shot on goal from the top of the box that hits the crossbar and deflects out.
Long shots were taken from both teams following this event, in an effort to be one foot ahead.
RBNY defender Tim Parker was red carded in the 35th minute for interfering with a goal scoring opportunity. This left RBNY to play with 10 men for the rest of the game.
It isn’t until the 65th minute where NYRB scores. On a turnover, the ball moves to the right wing who does a long crossing ball into the box. Tom Barlow headed that ball from the left side of the six, sending it to the bottom right corner. Atlanta keeper Brad Guzan was scrambling to get to the ball in time but did not make it.
The game ended with a 1-0 RBNY win with only 10 men on the pitch.
FC Dallas vs Los Angeles FC
A turn of events happened for Los Angeles FC in their game Sunday.
FC Dallas started the game with a good lead when they scored in the 28th minute. Dominique Badji ran the ball into the box and crossed it over to Ryan Hollingshead. The ball had crossed three LAFC defenders before Hollingshead could get a foot on it to send it into the goal.
Six minutes later LAFC had a free kick from 20 yards out. FC Dallas keeper, Jesse Gonzalez, blocked the ball that was coming to the top left corner.
LAFC Carlos Vela got a PK shot on goal in the 44th minute that was blocked by Gonzalez, still leaving LAFC behind one goal.
Matt Hedges received an immediate red card when he tripped Vela on a goal scoring opportunity. This left FC Dallas down one man for the rest of the game.
LAFC almost had a goal in the 71st minute when Diego Rossi took a shot from the top left of the box. He tried to make a Coutinho-type of goal but was deflected by keeper Gonzalez tipping the ball off the crossbar.
Finally, close the 80th minute LAFC got their goal when FC Dallas player Reggie Cannon was called for a handball as he was in an “unnatural” position. Vela scored right inside the right post to finish the game with a 1-1 tie.
LA Galaxy vs Colorado Rapids
It was an intense match for the LA Galaxy and Colorado Rapids this weekend with many near goals.
In the eighth minute Galaxy forward Favio Alvarez attempted to score but Tim Howard saved it.
Ten minutes later Rapid player, Kei Kamara, passed the ball to Jonathan Lewis. He went one in one with Galaxy keeper David Bingham. Lewis attempted to chip the ball over Bingham but it missed the goal.
In the 60th minute Galaxy member, Sebastian Lletget took the ball down the right wing. He crossed the ball into the box and Rapids defender Keegan Rosenberry tried to clear it. Galaxy defender Diego Polenta got to the ball and took a shot that bounced off the near post and out of bounds.
Rapids’ Kamara took a shot on goal in the 66th minute that didn’t make it because defender Hugo Arellano slid into the goal to save it.
Finally in the 81st minute Rapids were three on two. Andre Shinyashiki passed the ball off to Kamara who took a shot. The keeper deflected it and Shinyashiki was there to rebound it into the bottom right.
The game finished 1-0 Rapids.
