The New York Yankees annihilated the Atlanta Braves with a 10-0 shutout. Here is what lead to the Yankees’ victory.
Aaron Judge (3) hit a solo HR to make it 1-0 Yankees in the bottom of the first.
In the bottom of the second, Aaron Hicks singled to Orlando Arcia. Manny Pina got a throwing error. Josh Donaldson singled and Hicks scored.
Anthony Rizzo (1) hit a solo HR to make it 3-0 Yankees in the bottom of the third. Joey Gallo walked. DJ LeMahieu singled.
Justin Maese replaces Spencer Strider for the Braves.
Maese threw a wild pitch, advancing LeMahieu to third and Gallo to second.
Hicks doubled to score Gallo and LeMahieu.
Kyle Higashioka (6) homers, scoring Hicks.
Later in the inning, Hicks doubled, scoring Joey Gallo, who walked and DJ LeMahieu, who singled.
In the bottom of the fourth, Judge singled and then advanced to second after Rizzo got a hit by pitch. Giancarlo Stanton walked, advancing Judge to third and Rizzo to second.
Maese threw another wild pitch, scoring Judge while advancing Rizzo to third and Stanton to second.
LeMahieu driving in Rizzo on a single, sending Stanton to third.
Jake Higginbotham came in to replace Maese and gets Gallo, along with Hicks out. The score after four innings was 9-0.
Entering the fifth inning, Nestor Cortes replaces Luis Severino and the batters go down in order.
Higashioka (7) hit another HR in the bottom of the fifth to make it 10-0 and this is the final in the sixth inning. This came about after the game was suspended due to weather and was then finalized.
Severino pitched four scoreless innings, while Cortes helped seal the game and shut out the Braves.
