Here are three things to watch for this week as the Yankees take on the Kansas City Royals and the Chicago White Sox.
After a 5-2 week including a 3-1 series victory over the Seattle Mariners, the Yankees improved on the Wild Card rankings last week. After the conclusion of Sunday’s games, the Yankees sit 2.5 out of the second Wild Card spot. The Oakland Athletics currently hold the home-field Wild Card spot. They are facing the Indians and the Rangers this week. Meanwhile, the Red Sox hold the other spot, and are hosting the Rays and the Orioles this week.
The Yankees will face the White Sox in Iowa on Thursday. It will be Major League Baseball’s first “Field of Dreams Game”. The teams will be wearing old-fashioned uniforms and playing on a re-vamped field that was used in the well-known film “Field of Dreams”. The game is being broadcasted by FOX and is set to start at 7:15 PM EST. Carlos Rodon is scheduled to start against New York, while the Yankees have yet to name their starter.

Jameson Taillon has lowered his ERA on the season to 4.04 after another quality start Wednesday. He is off to a solid start in August after a tremendous July. Last month, Taillon posted a 1.16 ERA in 31 innings pitched. He is slated to pitch Monday night against the Royals. Therefore, Taillon can end up getting a second start over the weekend against Chicago. After a shaky start to his Yankee career, Taillon is giving the club outings that they were hoping for when they added him.
