The New York Yankees have acquired outfielder Austin Slater from the Chicago White Sox, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan. In return, the White Sox will send minor league right-hander Gage Ziehl.
Slater, 32, has played in 51 games this season, posting a .236 batting average with five home runs and 11 RBIs. He will provide outfield depth for the Yankees.
The White Sox are getting a prospect for the future in Ziehl, who is 22 and in A-ball. He has a 4.15 ERA in the minors in one season. Ziehl was the fourth-round pick of the Yankees in 2024 and was the 18th-ranked prospect in the system on MLB.com.
