With stars returning from the IL such as Trevor Story, Chris Sale, and a couple others, what can fans expect for the coming series? This article will look over the next few series and predict the outcomes and when star players will return.
1st Series: Vs. the KC Royals
To start this, the Sox will face the Kansas City Royals at Fenway for a four game stretch. During this series, star shortstop Trevor Story is expected to return from his elbow surgery.
Story has played six games at the Triple A level, and had a .250 average with multiple home runs. His return might give a needed morale boost to the Red Sox who have been struggling the past couple of series.
Sox fans should look forward to this series, since the Royals are one of the worst teams in baseball, and if the Red Sox can pull themselves together, it should be an easy three to four wins.
2nd Series: Vs. the Detroit Tigers
The next series is against another AL Central team, the Detroit Tigers. While better than the Royals, the Tigers are not a team to be truly scared of. Also, this series marks the return of Chris Sale, the ace of the Red Sox.
Sale is expected to start the series on Friday, August 11. In his latest rehab assignment, Sale threw four and a third scoreless innings, and got seven strikeouts. If Story’s return is not a big enough morale boost, this surely will be.
Red Sox fans should expect a two to one series win or a possible sweep.
3rd Series: @ the Washington Nationals
With their two superstar players back, the Red Sox should make light work of the worst team in the National League. Sale and Story will have a couple games under their belts, and will hopefully be in a groove.
Sox fans should expect a sweep, as long as the team gets on a roll again.
With these stars returning from the IL soon, do not forget that other starting pitchers will return soon as well. Both Tanner Houck and Garrett Whitlock are going through their rehab assignments and will make it back to the show soon as well.
