The MLB trade deadline has changed dates recently as the MLB has mixed up the schedule. Fans will need to know when it is to see what moves are made as teams try to make a push towards the playoffs or rebuild for a brighter future. When is the 2025 MLB trade deadline?
This season, the 2025 MLB trade deadline is on July 31 at 6 pm EST. All trades must be completed before the cutoff or they may not be done until the offseason. Teams can still acquire players on waivers and as free agent signings.
The trade deadline used to be on July 31 every year, but now the commissioner can choose any date from July 28 to August 3 as the official trade deadline date.
There may be some more movement this season, as Rafael Devers was already traded from the Red Sox to the Giants.
