The Cubs Are Not Messing Around

The Best Team in Baseball

The Chicago Cubs, 13-5 currently, have the best record in baseball and it’s because of the offense and starting rotation. When playing at Wrigley Field, they have an 8-3 record while posting a 5-2 record away from home. This is the best start for the Cubs in about a century and it brings back memories from 2016 when they won the World Series. David Ross and the Cubbies have done a good job though not letting these comparisons get in the way of staying in the moment.

Scoring Some Runs!

Not too many home runs have been hit for the Cubs but they do a good job producing runs. They make sure they take advantage of guys in scoring position and it’s benefitted them. Ross does a good job of putting the right guys in the lineup at the right time. A lot of guys tend to do their job when it comes to getting on base, driving in runs no matter what or getting out of the inning. Players such as Jason Kipnis, Jason Heyward and Nico Hoerner have been these lowkey crucial players. Jon Lester, Kyle Hendricks and Yu Darvish have also come through and been key guys for the Cubs as well.

2020 Could Be the New 2016

With the way the Cubs are playing, they will likely end up in the playoffs and as one of the top teams. They don’t have that same bullpen with Aroldis Chapman but they’re learning to use their pitchers wisely now. If Craig Kimbrel can get back to the old him, the Cubs could have a lethal weapon in the bullpen. Also, this is the Cubs best season since 2016 so Cubs fans have a reason to be hopeful this year.
