The Boston Red Sox manage to sweep the Toronto Blue Jays for the second time this season, making the series total 7-0 Red Sox.
The Sox got off to a good start in game one of the series to beat the Blue Jays, 5-0. This emphatic win came off of James Paxton’s pitching performance, going almost eight scoreless innings with seven strikeouts.
The offense was out to play as well, as four of the Red Sox’s runs were off home runs, from Justin Turner, Masataka Yoshida and Jarren Duran.
Game 2 of the series was action packed, with it all coming down to the end of the game. Kutter Crawford pitched an OK game, giving up two runs in almost six innings, but got six strikeouts in the process.
Rafael Devers and Justin Turner went yard in this game, with Devers getting his 20th homer. Devers now leads all third basemen in homers, with the next closest being 18.
In order to seal the game, Duran threw a bullet to home to tag out a runner that could of tied the game and sent it to extra innings.
The Sox sweep the Blue Jays after beating them in game three, which was neck and neck until the end. Garrett Whitlock was supposed to be the main pitcher, but had to leave after getting a sore elbow. It then turned into a relief game, with a new pitcher every couple innings.
What gave the Red Sox the was a solo shot in the top of the ninth from Alex Verdugo, with it being his first home run in a while.
The Red Sox next series will be on Independence Day, July 4, against one of the hottest teams in the MLB, the Texas Rangers.
