Scott Rolen and Fred McGriff have been elected to the Pro Baseball Hall of Fame in the 2023 class. The announcement of Rolen joining McGriff in the class was announced on MLBTV.

Scott Rolen, whose pristine glovework at third base set the modern standard for defensive brilliance and whose bat was a font of consistency across 17 seasons, has been elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame by the BBWAA. He'll join Fred McGriff in the Class of 2023.

McGriff was added to the Hall of Fame from a committee, while Rolen was added by the vote of baseball writers.

Rolen played 16 MLB seasons for the Phillies, Cardinals, Blue Jays and Reds. He won eight Gold Gloves at third base and a Silver Slugger. Rolen was a Rookie of the Year, seven-time Gold Glove winner and won the 2006 World Series with the Cardinals. He batted .281 with 2,077 hits, 316 home runs and 1,287 RBIs.

McGriff played in professional baseball for 19 seasons at first base. His career included stops with the Blue Jays, Padres, Braves, Devil Rays, Cubs and Dodgers. He was a five-time All-Star and three-time Silver Slugger. His play helped the Braves win the 1995 World Series. He had a career batting average of .284 with 2,490 hits, 493 home runs and 1,550 RBIs.

It required at lest 75 percent of the vote to elect Rolen. The next closest person to induction was Todd Helton who finished with 72.2 percent of the vote.
