The San Diego Padres have traded the Milwaukee Brewers for reliever Josh Hader according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan.

Hader, 28, is a closer with a 2.48 ERA in his career. He has 29 saves this season, which leads baseball. His 4.24 ERA this season is the highest of his career.
San Diego is 57-46 this season as they try to compete for a World Series title. Hader will add to a bullpen that currently has a 3.94 ERA this season, which ranks in the middle of the league.
In return, the Padres will get closer Taylor Rogers, left-handed pitcher Robert Gasser, right-hander Dinelson Lamet and outfielder Esteury Ruiz.
Rogers has a 4.35 ERA with the Padres this season after having a 3.15 ERA in six seasons with Minnesota.
Gasser is a prospect that is playing in High-A ball with a 4.18 ERA this season.
Lamet has struggled this season with a 9.49 ERA in 2022. He has a 4.08 career ERA.
The lone position player in the deal is Ruiz, who has 14 appearances at the MLB level and is batting .222. He batted .281 in the minor leagues.
