
The Cincinnati Reds have acquired lefty reliever Sam Moll from the A’s for Joe Boyle according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan. In addition to Moll the Reds will get international cap space.
Moll, 31, has a career ERA of 4.13 in four career MLB seasons. This season, Moll has a 4.54 ERA.
The Reds have needed left-handed pitchers to utilize out of the bullpen, as they mostly have used just Alex Young as a left-handed situational reliever. The Reds currently sit in first place in the NL Central as they make a push for the playoffs.
Oakland sits in last place of the AL West with a 30-77 record and are building for the future. They receive Boyle who was the 28th-ranked prospect in the Reds’ organization according to MLB.com. The 23-year-old has a 4.5 ERA in AA this season.
