The Tampa Bay Rays have completed a trade for reliever Tyler Wells from the Baltimore Orioles, according to Jeff Passan. Baltimore will receive pitcher Michael Forret in return.
Wells, 31, is a six-year veteran who has played his entire career for the Orioles. He has a 3.79 ERA over that time. This season has been his best yet, as he has a 2.67 ERA over 43 appearances.
The Rays keep adding to their roster this deadline as they are trying to make a playoff push. They sit at 65-46, which is atop the American League East.
Forret, 22, is a starter who has worked his way up to the AA level this season. He has a 2.15 ERA and 6-0 record at the AA level this season.
Baltimore has decided to sell at the deadline, as they have a 54-58 record and already traded catcher Adley Rutschman to the Red Sox.
