

The Rangers have completed a trade with the Diamondbacks for starting pitcher Merrill Kelly, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan. Ken Rosenthal is reporting that Kohl Drake, David Hagaman and another prospect will go back to the Diamondbacks.
Kelly, 36, is a seven-year vet who has spent his whole career with the Diamondbacks. He has a career record of 62-50 and an ERA of 3.74.
Texas is 57-52 and is tied for the last Wild Card spot in the American League. This will help a pitching staff that has been good this season, as they rank first in team ERA and batting average against.
The Diamondbacks have sold at the deadline, trading key players like Eugenio Suarez and Josh Naylor before the deadline. They get Drake (LHP, Rangers no. five prospect) and Hagaman (RHP, No. 13 prospect) to go along with another prospect.
