Pirates Trade for Bryan De La Cruz and Isiah Kiner-Falefa

The Pittsburgh Pirates have completed trades for outfielder Bryan De La Cruz and infielder Isiah Kiner-Falefa. Jon Heyman reported the De La Cruz trade, while Jeff Passan reported the IKF trade.

De La Cruz is batting .245 with 18 home runs and 51 RBI this season for the Marlins. Over his career, he is a .258 hitter with 55 home runs and 191 RBI.

Kiner-Falefa has had a great season for the Blue Jays, batting .292 with seven home runs and 33 RBI. In his career, he has batted .254 with 33 home runs and 236 RBI.

Pittsburgh is 54-52, which has them in the race to make the playoffs. With the extra bats in the lineup, they may be able to win down the stretch and make the postseason.

There haven’t been confirmed reports of returns for the Marlins or the Blue Jays.
