The Philadelphia Phillies have traded the Chicago Cubs for relief pitcher David Robertson according to Jeff Passan. Matt Gelb is reporting the Cubs will receive Ben Brown in return.
Robertson, 37, is a 14-year MLB veteran with a 2.89 ERA. This season, he has a 2.23 ERA for the Cubs in 36 appearances.
The Phillies have a bullpen ERA of 3.85, which ranks in the middle of the league. Robertson will help them down the stretch, as they currently have a 55-47 record and are looking to contend.
Chicago has started a rebuilding process and has traded away some players already before the deadline. They get Brown, who is in High-A ball right now with a 3.27 ERA in his career across all levels of the minor leagues.
