In return, the Marlins are getting Jesus Luzardo, who was once a promising prospect, but has struggled this season. Luzardo has a 6.87 ERA this season.
Marte, 32, has hit .288 with 121 home runs and 472 RBIs. This season for the Marlins, Marte was batting .306 with seven home runs and 25 RBIs in 63 games for the Marlins this season. Miami will pay the rest of Marte’s contract, which goes through the rest of this season.
For the Marlins, they get a young pitcher, who is under club control until 2026. The A’s add another bat to their lineup as they make a run to the postseason.
