The Oakland A’s are headed to the playoffs….with some hardware in hand!
On Monday night in Oakland, despite a pandemic and possibly the wildest MLB season to date, the Oakland Athletics were able to enjoy a moment of happiness, clinching the American League West as their division rival the Houston Astros, fell to the Seattle Mariners 6-1. This is the organization’s first division title since 2013, and it’s the first time that the Astros have lost the division title in four years. Not only is this a victory for the Oakland Athletics, but baseball fans everywhere are celebrating, as the team accused of cheating their way to a World Series finally is getting the justice they deserved.

As of now, the Oakland Athletics are expected to play the Houston Astros in the first round of the playoffs, but since the A’s sit only a game behind the Chicago White Sox for the no. 2 seed, the A’s could be facing the Cleveland Indians. It’s uncertain who they’ll play, but what is certain is that the Green and Gold will appear in the postseason.
While the Athletics still have some key losses in Matt Chapman and A.J Puk, the A’s have tried to put the pieces down conducive to success, haven’t traded any of their core players and remain in the thick of World Series conversation. The regular season isn’t over, but it’s always nice to pick up hardware along the way and secure a spot in an October showdown.
