
The MLB Trade Deadline is on Monday, and teams are scrambling to get deals done. Lots of big names will be available for trade as some teams have signaled that they are open for business. Take a look at our Buyers and Sellers article to see which teams are which.
Here are some notable infielders and catchers who are likely on the trade block, and what some potential fits for them could be.
Best Fits: Rays, Red Sox
Arraez is a pure rental and will be a free agent after this season. He has been one of the Giants’ best players with his contact-oriented approach and improved defense.
Best Fits: Brewers, Red Sox
Chapman is under team control through 2030. As good of a player as he is, he may be difficult to trade due to his large contract. Chapman is a premium defender and a pretty consistent power bat.
Best Fits: Dodgers, Rays
Stephenson is a pure rental and will be a free agent after this season. He has been a solid bat as the Reds’ starting catcher this year.
Best Fits: Yankees, Red Sox
Goodman is under team control through 2029. He is one of the premier power hitters in the league and one of the top names on the market if the Rockies are willing to part with him.
Best Fits: Yankees, Rangers
Jeffers is a pure rental and will be a free agent after this season. He has been a fantastic offensive catcher when healthy and would upgrade any offense.
Best Fits: Red Sox, Dodgers
Heim is a pure rental and will be a free agent after this season. Heim has mostly served in the backup role for the A’s, but has been solid in limited time.
Best Fits: Brewers, Rays
Gelof is under team control through 2028. He can play second, third, and outfield and has been able to get on base at a high clip this season.
Best Fits: Yankees, Braves
Neto is under team control through 2029. He is one of the top power-hitting shortstops in the league and has a very strong arm.
Best Fits: Guardians, Diamondbacks
Garcia Jr. is under team control through 2027. He has been one of the best hitters in a potent Nats lineup with 22 homers.
