The Miami Marlins have traded for outfielder Starling Marte from the Arizona Diamondbacks according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan. The Diamondbacks will reportedly get Caleb Smith, Humberto Mejia and a player to be named later.

Marte, 31, is a former All-Star and two-time Gold Glove winner. In 33 games this season, he has batted .311 with two home runs and 14 RBIs. He is a career .288 hitter with 110 home runs and 434 RBIs.
Smith, 28, is a left-handed pitcher who is 15-18 in his career with a 4.64 ERA. Mejia is a 23-year-old right-hander, who has an 0-2 record with a 5.40 ERA in three starts this season.
The Marlins have been rebuilding for a few years, but at 14-15 are in contention for the playoffs. Arizona, on the other hand, is 14-21, which puts them last in the National League West.
