The Marlins sweep the Red Sox, three games to zero. The first two games were blowouts, and the last game was close until the end, where the Marlins pulled out a win.
A poor performance by the Red Sox, and a great outing by the Marlins for the first game. Sandy Alcantra, Marlins Cy Young winning ace, controlled the game for seven innings. He gave up one run in the first inning, and dominated the rest.
However, Garrett Whitlock performed poorly. In a little under five innings, he gave up five runs. The relievers after him also performed poorly, giving up another five runs.
The Marlins had another dominant game, with pitcher Braxton Garrett holding it down for five innings, only giving up a run to a solo shot from Rafael Devers. The other run the Red Sox got was off an RBI by Jarren Duran, but other than that, they had no offense.
The Marlins offense on the other hand, worked fine. They scored six runs and two of them were off solo shots by Jazz Chisolm Jr. and Garrett Cooper.
This game was promising for the Red Sox right until the end, thanks to Brayan Bello’s pitching performance. He went seven innings, and the whole time he had a no-hitter bid until the seventh when the Marlins got a hit. After that, he came out of the game, and the Sox relievers gave a couple runs to lose the game.
The Red Sox will try to move on from this beating as they go to Toronto to face the Blue Jays on June 30.
