The Los Angeles Dodgers have acquired Joey Gallo from the New York Yankees according to Pat Ragazzo. In return, the Dodgers will receive Double-A pitcher Clayton Beeter.
Gallo, 28, is batting .159 with 12 home runs and 24 RBIs in 82 at-bats this season with the Yankees. He is known for his power as he has hit 170 home runs, but his average is well below average at .201 for his career.
The Yankees have made plenty of moves for pitchers and outfielder Andrew Benintendi as they improve their roster heading into the last two months of the season.
The Dodgers will likely use Gallo as a bat off the bench, as they too look to make a run at the World Series. They currently have a 69-33 record and are in first place in the NL West.
Beeter goes to the Yankees after posting a 4.59 ERA in two minor league seasons.
