The Los Angeles Dodgers have acquired pitcher Chris Martin from the Chicago Cubs according to ESPN’s Buster Olney. According to Patrick Mooney, the Cubs will receive utility man Zack McKinstry in return.
Martin, 36, is a relief pitcher with a 4.31 ERA this season. In seven MLB seasons, he has a 4.10 ERA and 227 strikeouts.
The Dodgers are gearing up for another run at the World Series by adding arms to their bullpen. They currently have the sixth-highest bullpen ERA at 3.37, so the move improves one of their strengths.
McKinstry, 27, has a .091 batting average with one home run and two RBIs. He has played in three different seasons with the Dodgers, batting .210 for his career.
Chicago has a 41-58 record and are currently going through a rebuild.
