John Ryan Murphy Traded to Braves from D-Backs

John Ryan Murphy

The Braves have acquired catcher John Ryan Murphy for cash considerations, sources tell The Athletic.

John Ryan Murphy is slashing .177/.250/.419 through just 25 games this season. The line isn’t too impressive, but the slugging percentage is the highest of his career. The main focus of this trade, however, is simply more team depth. Brian McCann and Tyler Flowers have both dealt with injuries this season, which is never good as a catcher. Murphy will get some innings behind the plate to let the other guys rest.
