The Cleveland Guardians have completed a trade for outfielder Jo Adell, according to Zack Meisel. In return, the Angels will receive catching prospect Jacob Cozart.
Adell, 27, was a former prized prospect who has spent his entire seven-year career with the Angels. In his career, he has batted .224 with 91 home runs and 288 RBIs. This season, Adell has slashed .239/.287/.395 for Los Angeles.
The Guardians need more help on offense, and Adell can bring that. He hit 37 home runs last season, so if he heats up down the stretch, that added power will help the lineup. The Guardians are in second place in the AL Central at 57-56 and will hope this can help them make a playoff push.
Cozart, 23, is in AA after being drafted out of NC State in 2024. He is batting .239 with 10 home runs and 44 RBIs this season.
The Angels have already made trades on deadline day, showing the willingness to rebuild again. Jose Soriano and Brent Suter were already shipped out as the Angels restock their farm system.
