Outfielder Jason Heyward is returning to the Los Angeles Dodgers. Reports indicate that Heyward is receiving a one-year, $9 million contract from the Dodgers after returning to form during his first season there, last year.
The Athletic’s Fabian Ardaya reported the news via Twitter on Monday.
Last season, Heyward impressed with a .260 batting average and an on-base percentage of .340. He had 15 home runs and 40 RBI while striking out just 64 times, which by today’s metrics is well below average. He also stayed healthy, playing 124 games.
Heyward has been an All-Star only once, in his rookie year. But he’s also collected five Gold Gloves and won the Wilson Overall Defensive Player of the Year. He is, perhaps, most well-known for winning the World Series with the Chicago Cubs in 2016.
