The Houston Astros have traded starting pitcher Jake Odorizzi to Atlanta for relief pitcher Will Smith according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan.
The deal sending right-handed starter Jake Odorizzi to Atlanta and left-handed reliever Will Smith to Houston is done, a source tells ESPN.

Odorizzi, 32, has a 3.75 ERA over 12 games started this season. He has a 72-66 career record with a 3.94 ERA over 11 MLB seasons. In his career, he has played for the Royals, Rays, Twins and Astros.
For Atlanta, Odorizzi helps the starting rotation as they try to repeat as World Series Chmapions. They currently have a 62-41 record.
In return, Houston is receiving reliever Will Smith. Smith has a 4.38 ERA this season in 41 games. In his career, he has played 10 seasons with a 3.61 ERA. Last season, he was with the Braves when they won the World Series.
The Astros have already acquired some position players before the trade deadline to increase their chances of winning a World Series. Smith adds to the league’s best bullpen that currently has a 2.77 ERA.
