Ahead of the 2023 MLB trade deadline, the San Francisco Giants have made a move to shore up their outfield. The Giants have acquired outfielder A.J. Pollock and 2B/DH Mark Mathias from the Seattle Mariners.
ESPN’s Jeff Passan reported the news via Twitter on Monday.
In 49 games so far this season, Pollock is hitting for a .173 batting average. In 127 at-bats, he has five home runs and 15 RBI, while striking out 30 times. He has one All-Star appearance, one Gold Glove award and won the 2020 World Series with the Dodgers.
2023 is Mathias’ third official season in the MLB. His career high in RBI came in 2022, which saw him play with both the Milwaukee Brewers and Texas Rangers. He played six different positions that season, and four this season.
