Former Yankees great and current executive Derek Jeter is stepping down as CEO of the Miami Marlins according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan.

Jeter was part of a bid to buy the Marlins in 2017. He bought in at a four percent share, but was named the CEO. On top of stepping down as CEO, Jeter mentioned he would not own any shares in the club.
Over his tenure with the Marlins, he was able to help the team make the playoffs in 2020. Under manager Don Mattingly, the team won the National League Wild Card Game, but lost in the National League Divisional Series to the Braves.
