The Chicago Cubs have traded outfielder Nelson Velazquez to the Royals for Jose Cuas according to ESPN’s Jesse Rogers.
Cuas, 29, has a 4.08 ERA in two career seasons for the Royals. This season, he is 3-0 with a 4.54 ERA.
The Cubs have been on a hot streak as of late and are gearing up for a playoff push. Cuas will help their bullpen, which currently has a 3.99 ERA.
Velazquez, 24, has a .243 average this season for the Cubs with three home runs and six RBIs.
Kansas City is not in contention and get a young piece in return to build with.
