The Cubs and White Sox have engaged in a rare crosstown trade. The White Sox will receive right-handed pitcher Ryan Tepera for the left-hander Bailey Horn. Last time these two teams engaged in a trade, the White Sox sent Jose Quintana over to the North Side for Eloy Jimenez.
The Chicago Cubs’ official Twitter page confirmed the news on Thursday afternoon.
Tepera has an ERA of 2.91 in 43 appearances, with a win-loss record of 0-2. He has allowed only three home runs and struck out 50, facing 165 batters in 2021. Tepera was a Toronto Blue Jay from 2015-2019, becoming a Cub before the shortened 2020 season.
The new Cub, Horn, is a minor league prospect who was selected in the fifth round of the 2020 draft out of Auburn. In 38.1 innings pitched, he has earned an ERA of 5.63, striking out 45. His win-loss record sits at 2-3.
