France, 29, has played in the big leagues for six seasons, batting .264 with 69 home runs and 292 RBI. He has struggled this season, batting .223 with eight home runs and 31 RBI. For his play during the 2022 season, he was named an All-Star.
In Cincinnati, France will join a team that is five games below .500, but also five games out of the last Wild Card spot.
Seattle receives Salcedo, a 21-year-old catcher who is batting .188 at the Single-A level this season.
