The New York Mets have made a trade with the Baltimore Orioles to acquire outfielder Cedric Mullins, according to Will Sammon. Baltimore will receive Ramon Gomez, Chandler Marsh and Anthony Nunez in return.
Mullins, 30, has played eight MLB seasons, all with the Orioles. He is batting .229, with 15 home runs and 49 RBIs this season. He is a career .250 hitter with 101 home runs and 327 RBIs.
The Mets have made moves before the deadline to improve the roster. They are 62-47 and in first place in the NL East.
Gomez (RHP, no. 30 Mets prospect), Marsh (RHP, unranked prospect) and Nunez (RHP, no. 14) will all join the Orioles and give them young arms. The Orioles are 50-59 and out of playoff contention and now have more pitching for the future.
