The Atlanta Braves have announced they have traded for reliever Chris Martin from the Texas Rangers.
— Atlanta Braves (@Braves) July 31, 2019
So far this season, Martin has appeared in 38 games and has an ERA of 3.08. He has 43 strikeouts and four walks in only 38 innings of work. Martin won’t hit arbitration until after the 2021 season, and isn’t eligible for free agency until after the 2024 season. He is set to be a part of the Braves bullpen for many years.
In return, Texas receives left-hander Kolby Allard, who ranked as the #10 prospect in the Braves organization. Allard made three appearances with Atlanta last season, and is 7-5 with a 4.91 ERA and 98 strikeouts in 20 starts with the Triple-A Gwinnett Stripers.
