Atlanta Braves Make Trade for Brent Suter

The Atlanta Braves have traded infielder Nacho Alvarez Jr. to the Los Angeles Angels for Brent Suter, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan.

Suter, 36, is an 11-year veteran who has played for the Brewers, Rockies, Reds and Angels. This season, he is 1-2 with a 4.12 ERA in 41 appearances. Over his career, he has a 3.62 ERA over 389 total games played.

The Braves have made moves for pitching depth before the deadline, as they have acquired Suter and starter Tyler Mahle. They currently sit in first place in the National League East with a 67-45 record.

Alvarez Jr., 23, is a young infielder who has some limited experience in the majors. He has a .216 batting average at the major league level, but has batted .276 in the minor leagues.

Los Angeles has traded away some of their players as they get ready for another rebuild. Both Suter and Jose Soriano were traded, as the Angels have the fewest wins in the league at 43.
