
The 2023 MLB season is warming up as pitchers and catchers have officially reported, and spring training draws closer. In this series of articles, TGH is going to be giving an early look at every team’s projected pitching rotations ahead of Opening Day on March 30. Here is the 2023 pitching rotation for the Atlanta Braves.
**Note: As these are very early projections, the pitching rotations are subject to change before the season officially begins.**
Following their World Series-winning 2021 campaign, the Atlanta Braves finished the 2022 season with a record of 101-61, which was good for first in the NL East. This was their fifth-consecutive NL East title. Atlanta would go on to lose to their division rivals, the Phillies, in the NLDS.
1. Max Fried
2022 stats: 14-7, 2.48 ERA, 185.1 IP, 51 ER
Last season, Fried made his first All-Star Game, finished second in Cy Young voting and won his third-straight Gold Glove award.
2. Kyle Wright
2022 stats: 21-5, 3.19 ERA, 180.1 IP, 64 ER
Wright won an MLB-leading 21 games last season, in 30 starts. He also finished 10th in Cy Young voting. His 3.19 ERA was by far the best of his career so far.
3. Charlie Morton
2022 stats: 9-6, 4.34 ERA, 172 IP, 83 ER
The 38-year-old Morton is a two-time All-Star and two-time World Series champion. This will be his 16th MLB season. He began his career with the Braves in 2008.
4. Spencer Strider
2022 stats: 11-5, 2.67 ERA, 131.2 IP, 39 ER
Strider pitched just 2.1 innings in 2021, making 2022 his official rookie year. His 2.67 ERA earned him second place in Rookie of the Year voting.
5. Ian Anderson
2022 stats: 10-6, 5.00 ERA, 111.2 IP, 62 ER
Anderson won the most games of his career last year, but had his highest ERA and the lowest innings pitched as a starter in his young career.
