5 Active Shortstops to Watch Defensive Highlights of During the Postponed Season

The 2020 MLB season may be on hold, but that doesn’t mean that there’s absolutely no baseball content. With the internet, many videos of MLB players can be found with a simple search. Some of those videos include defensive highlights of current shortstops. Here are five that people can watch defensive highlights of.

Andrelton Simmons

Four-time Gold Glove winner Andrelton Simmons has made some crazy defensive plays during his career. He has the arm to go with it, making him one of the best defenders in baseball. Simmons has 1,027 games played at shortstop and a .982 career fielding percentage through his first eight MLB seasons. Here is a video of some of his impressive plays at short.

Brandon Crawford

The 2019 season was Brandon Crawford‘s ninth in the bigs. The career long Giant hasn’t had the best hitting numbers for a shortstop, but he’s sure provided San Francisco with some clutch defensive plays. He’s won three Gold Glove awards, and they came in consecutive seasons from 2015-through-2017. Here is a mix tape of some of his 2018 defensive highlights, a year in which he made his second career All-Star game.

Francisco Lindor

Francisco Lindor has molded himself into one of the best shortstops in the league. In his first five seasons, he’s made four All-Star games and won two Gold Glove awards. “Mr. Smile” has a .980 fielding percentage through 705 games at short. Though he’s likely to have many more, here are some highlights of Lindor on defense.

Javier Baez is one of the more electric players in baseball. He hasn’t played his whole career at shortstop, but he did play 129 games there in 2019, bringing his total to 330 games in the six spot with the Cubs. His .969 fielding percentage at short doesn’t stand out, but his highlight reels could still be fun to watch. Here‘s a hype video of Baez at shortstop.

Nick Ahmed

Nick Ahmed may not be as well known as some of the other guys on the list. However, he is still one of the most talented shortstops on defense. The Diamondback is on a Gold Glove streak of two years in a row, as he won the award for the first time in 2018, then again last season. Here is a video of Ahmed making a clutch play in the eleventh inning of a tied game against the Padres.
