And so the relentless and never-ending “Preview Season” kicks off again next week for Magic’s newest Standard set. Wilds of Eldraine is up next for Standard play, and players have already received a sneak peek at what themes are packed inside this set during the PT Barcelona preview stream. Wilds of Eldraine is set to be an expansion based on more fairy-tale fantasy tropes rather than high-fantasy like the previous visit to the plane. Evil step-sisters, animated food and a plane stuck under a sleeping spell – Wilds of Eldraine is sure to be a wild ride.
The preview season for Wilds of Eldraine will being on August 15. Viewers can check out the preview steam on Twitch on Magic’s official channel.

The story of Wilds of Eldraine follows the events of March of the Machine, where planes are still reeling from the brutal Phyrexian Invasion. After the courts and towns of Eldraine fell to the invaders, the survivors are hanging out in the once feared Wilds. How the citizens of Eldraine battle the mysterious new landscape will be the focus of the latest set.
Last time players saw Eldraine, they experience one of the most powerful Standard sets in years. Several cards from the set found themselves as not only Standard staples, but must-defeat cards in their own right. Cards like Questing Beast and Lovestruck Beast made mono-green the premier list for Standard, while Oko, the Thief of Crowns received bans in almost every format. As we had into Eldraine once more, players can only hope that these cards lean more towards fun, rather than otherworldly broken.
Kickoff the preview season for Wilds of Eldraine with the debut on August 15, at 10:00 AM PT on twitch.tv/Magic and the official YouTube channel.
