Not only did players get a first look at some of the cards from Dominaria United, they also received news of a brand new series called “Lost Legends”. The legend doesn’t stop there as Wizards announced a new type of Box Topper called “Legends Retold”. The stream also showcased the boxes for both the new Commander set and new JumpStart set. The Dominaria Preview stream ended with some news about Wizards’ 30th Anniversary celebration and where people can learn more about the upcoming event.
The biggest surprise of the stream was the announcement of the “Lost Legends” series. Wizards of the Coast have allegedly discovered several unopened boxes of the Legends set from 1994. The cards were subsequently opened, and are now are select packs of Collect Boosters for players to uncover.

Around 3% of Collector Boosters will have a Legends card, meaning that each pack has a small chance to find a hidden gem. One of these cards can be any type of rarity. Back when Legends was printed, there was no such thing as a “Mythic Rare” card. Cards like The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale was simply a rare at the time of printing.
This new promotion will cause prices of Collector Boosters to skyrocket. Due to its limited printing, Legends cards are incredibly pricey. Even the cards that don’t see play are valued quite highly. Lost Legends will not appear in traditional Draft Boosters, but only Collector Boosters.
Keeping up with the theme of legends, there is a new type of Box Topper called “Legends Retold”. In the initial printing of Legends there were several legendary creatures that seemed a bit lackluster in comparison to cards today. Legends Retold looks to “modernize” some of these older cards so that they can finally see some play almost 30 years later.

Legends Retold cards will also appear as Box Toppers for Collector Booster boxes. In addition to the normal printing, Collector Booster boxes will also feature the foil etched treatment of the cards. There are 20 Legends Retold cards overall, with 19 of them being creatures and the last being a planeswalker.

There was also a small announcement for everyone’s favorite format. Alongside Dominaria United will be two brand new Commander pre-cons. The preview could only show the two boxes, but the two decks look to be incredibly exciting.

Not only will there be new commanders, there will be a brand new Jumpstart set to help players get to know Dominaria United. The new Jumpstart set will be the same as previous sets where players pick two packs and create a 40 card deck to battle a friend.

The Dominaria United Jumpstart themes were revealed as well, with 10 different packs to choose from. So far there have not been an spoilers for Jumpstart specific cards, but players are sure to found out soon enough.
In 30 years of Magic, there have been plenty of iconic cards that players can instantly recognize. Wizards felt like it was time to truly honor some of the most historic cards throughout the years. Introducing the Magic 30 Promo series, where select cards are given a brand new treatment that features the first year that card was printed.

To end the Dominaria United preview stream, Wizards unveiled its plans to have one more event towards the end of the year. The new event is titled “Wizards Presents”, and it will feature news and highlights from across all of Wizard’s titles.

The event will primarily feature Dungeons and Dragons and Magic: The Gathering, but there are sure to be some surprises in there. Wizards Presents will debut later in August.
