Akshan has a thirst for vengeance and he will be bringing it with him to the boards of Legends of Runeterra. On Wedneday July 7, Legends of Runeterra announced that Akshan the newest League of Legends champion would be joining the LoR roster. The lost Sentinel of Light joins the collectible card game alongside Viego, his nemesis, who was similarly revealed just the day before. The announcement also coincides with the overarching Ruination theme featured across both Legends of Runeterra and League of Legends.

Akshan joins Legends of Runeterra as a member of Shurima. His theme is all about powering himself and his allies up in order to overwhelm the enemy. This feels like it will be something that works well with plenty of different decks. Could Azir and Akshan run over people quickly? Either way to compensate for this, he is a relatively weak card on his own at the start. But when he does build himself and his allies up he could be a very strong board to have to try and take down.
It will be interesting to watch as players aim to build around the powerful and quick new champion in Legends of Runeterra. The weak early game for Akshan could be a problem as he could easily be wiped off the board before players can really get him rolling. That said, with so many decks having great cards to buff, Akshan should be quite flexible. Fans will luckily have time to research and theorycraft decks as Akshan won’t be on the live servers until July 14.
