According to the June 2020 Champion Roadmap, Dr. Mundo will be the next champion getting a rework. This comes after the full reworks of Fiddlesticks and Volibear were released earlier in 2020. The question is no longer which champion will be reworked next but instead when will reworked Dr. Mundo be getting released?

Previously Reworked Champions and a New Schedule
When Fiddlesticks and Volibear were decided, it was around a similar time as now. They subsequently did not come out for almost six months to a year after it was known that they were the next champion to be receiving a rework. This is likely due to the fact that they are still working on brand new champions as well. With Riot saying that their plan is to come out with six champions a year, or one every two months, he will need to fit into this new schedule.
Riot revealed that they have three more new champions coming in 2020. That means that if they are sticking to their new plan that Aphelios plus reworked Fiddlesticks, Volibear and these three new champions add up to the six champions that they mentioned. That leaves no room for reworked Mundo in 2020. In the Developer Update, Riot confirmed that a reworked Dr. Mundo would be coming in 2021.
Likely, it seems that if they are already testing out new parts of his kit, he would probably be in the first half of the year. If they do it similarly to their 2020 schedule then he could either be the second champion released next year like Fiddlesticks was the second one this year. Or they could stick with the schedule of having their new top laner released as the third new champion each year. Either way, those who are looking forward to a new Mundo will be waiting for anywhere between six months to a year. Luckily there will be another update closer to the end of 2020.
