What is the Clash LoL Schedule for League of Legends?

Publish Date: May 6, 2021

After waiting for literal years, Clash weekends have become a regular part of League of Legends for many players. These Clash LoL weekends continue to bring people together in attempts to show off their skills against teams of other friends getting together. At a minimum, they are able to earn prizes and play with their friends in hopes that they can be the best in their bracket. Even if players lose right away they earn rewards and can still enter back in, time-permitting.

With Clash being a consistent part of the League experience for everyone, players are always wondering, when is the next Clash LoL weekend? Luckily Riot has revealed the next two weekends and the two days for each of the next Clash weekends. The next Clash weekend will be January 15 and January 16.The exact times to lock in for each tier will be added below.

Tier System

The tier system is important for players to remember. Their tier is based on their ranks and depending on where they are placed, it will determine their start time. The upper brackets are normally only there for the best players. Essentially Grand Master and above play there. Tier two is for Platinum and Diamond players while tier three is generally for Gold and some Platinum. Then lastly tier four is for Silver and below.

As a reminder, these tiers are for the team as a whole but generally, teams are placed where the majority of their players are ranked. For example, if four Bronze level players play with a Diamond, they will likely play in tier three even though four of the players are in tier four. This is to balance out having a player who is likely in tier two or one.

Most players play in tiers three and four which is why they have long times for people to play and sign up. The goal is to allow for people to play at optimal times when the most players of their similar skill rating are on. This is important for Clash as it pits players against players of generally the same skill.

How do the Tournaments work?

Putting Together a Team

When getting a team together, many players are playing with their friends. It is pretty easy as players are able to create their team on the Clash tab. They get to pick their name and a logo. Based on what the players on the team have done in previous Clash LoL tournaments, they will earn different logos. More on that later.

One the team name and logo are in, players can invite whoever they want from their friends list. Generally, people will have four other players already in mind. But, in the case that they do not have enough to play, they are able to add a free agent player.

Free agent players are those who are playing alone either by choice or because they do not have anyone willing to join them on their quest. This is certainly a fun way to play the game as people can join groups randomly and hopefully make new friends while trying to win together. Sadly there are those players who will troll but, in general, this rarely happens.

Once the team is put together, players will have to have tickets in order to play.

There are two types of tickets, the first one which is brown, is just a basic ticket. Players can buy these with Blue Essence. These tickets will give players normal rewards. The second type of ticket is a premium one that is bought with RP. These tickets give much better rewards. As for the rewards, keep reading to see how those work.

The Tournament Itself

The tournament is set up well in order to make it easy for players to hop in and play. Once the tickets have been added and roles have been picked for players it is all about getting into the game.

The Bracket

Generally, the bracket is a straightforward eight-team bracket. This means four games to start as seen below.

Then the winners go on to face each other with the winners of the semifinals game meeting up in the finals. Originally many thought this would be a 16 team bracket, but it seems as though they decided eight would be better.

Luckily, even after losing, there is a losers bracket so that players get at least two games guaranteed. The four teams that lost face off in that bracket with it finishing like the upper bracket, one team winning.

Scouting

There is also a scouting aspect to these tournaments. Players are able to see their opponents with who they have been playing in ranked and who their best champions are of all time. Also, they can see what champions they played in their latest Clash tournaments. This makes it easier to see in terms of what bans that players should do during their game.

Rewards

Once players are finally out, hopefully after winning the tournament, they will receive a loot case. Think of it being similar to getting one after leveling up. These are filled with many different rewards. Normally though, they have icons, emotes, logos and orange essence. For those who get the premium tickets they can get skins and just better rewards in general. Also, the further teams get in the tournaments, the better their rewards will be.

Clash

Clash LoL is a great way to have a tournament atmosphere with friends on a biweekly basis. There is nothing like it in so many other games and Riot Games is seemingly ready to bring it out for their other titles like VALORANT. Clash has been very successful and should continue to be so as Riot continues to make changes.
