What are the Nilah Abilities?

Publish Date: July 9, 2022

Bot laners rejoice, there will be another new champion coming their way. After weeks of speculation and leaks, Riot has finally revealed the next champion. While not much time has passed since the release of Bel’Veth it would seem as though Riot is making a summer rush. Nilah has been officially revealed as the next champion. With that, many will be wonder, what are the Nilah Abilities?

Official Nilah Abilities

Passive – Joy Unending

Nilah amplifies the healing and shielding abilities of nearby allies. Allies that heal or shield Nilah gain a bonus heal or shield for themselves. And when an allied champion heals or shields themselves near Nilah, she gives herself a bonus heal or shield.

If Nilah last hits an enemy minion, she and her nearest allied champion will gain the normal amount of shared experience, plus half of the experience that would have been lost due to sharing.

Q – Formless Blade

Active: Nilah’s Formless Blade strikes in a line, damaging all enemies hit. Hitting an enemy will briefly increase Nilah’s attack range and attack speed and empower her basic attacks, causing them to splash in a cone and deal additional damage.

Passive: Attacks and ability damage against champions ignore some of their armor and heal Nilah for part of the damage dealt. This effect scales with crit chance and converts any excess healing into a shield.

W – Jubilant Veil

Nilah shrouds herself in a Jubilant Veil and briefly gains bonus move speed, takes reduced magic damage, and dodges all incoming basic attacks.

Touching an ally champion hides them in the veil as well, but they’ll be protected for a shorter period.

E – Slipstream

Slipstream lets Nilah dash through a target unit, traveling a fixed distance every time and damaging all enemies she passes through. She can store up to 2 charges at once.

Cast Formless Blade during Slipstream to pull a wave in your path, dealing damage after a quick delay and granting Formless Blade’s enhanced basic attack effect.

R – Apotheosis

Nilah unleashes a surge of power, lashes her whip in an area around her and, with a final burst, pulls enemies in toward the center.

Apotheosis heals Nilah for part of the damage dealt, converting any excess healing into a shield. This effect scales with crit chance and is granted to nearby allies.

When looking at the Nilah reveal trailer, a lot can be seen. What is interesting is that the leaks about Nilah’s abilities seem to be pretty far off. Either that was a different build or maybe even a completely different champion that fans could see in the future. Either way, with gameplay show in the trailer below, some of her abilities can be assumed.

Below was what the predictions were for the Abilities before they were officially revealed.

Basic Attack

For starters, her basic attack looks to be a water whip of some sort. It looks similar to the range of Rakan with his cape. Not ranged for sure but not entirely melee either.

Abilities

Yes, Nilah clearly has a dash. This will upset many but it looks to fit well with her playstyle. What is interesting is that Nilah may be able to dash on her own and dash through targeted champions. While this could just be her dashing again, there might be some mechanic added to this.

Then she is shown using a combo attack similar to Aatrox or Riven. The first one smacks down in a line while the next one sweeps across the enemy champions. Again this looks to have a hidden mechanic where it could just be connected to actually hitting an enemy champion.

Next she immunes a Gold Card from Twisted Fate. With her dancing around it looks like it needs to be timed a bit similar to Samira’s. But then it may also give a speed buff that she can pass to friendly units after dashing to them.

Lastly what looks to be her ultimate is that she encircles herself, pulling enemies in and then does damage to them. Again this is relatable to Samira but looks more like the old Galio ultimate.
